The importance of renewing your Support

Late one night whilst driving down the M5 my car got a flat tyre. It was dark, cold, I was tired and now had to change a tyre. It turned out that I didn’t have a spare tyre because I never checked there was one fitted. After coming to terms with my own idiocy I decided to call my breakdown service, turns out I never got round to sorting that out either and I’d have to pay a fortune for them to come to my rescue.

 I never really valued preventive measures or breakdown insurance until that day. I spent the entire night by the side of the motorway until a nearby garage opened and I could get the tyre fixed. You never appreciate how much you need things like breakdown insurance until you need them, and by then it’ll often cost you a lot more than you’d planned and can cause you a world of headaches. 

In the world of IT it’s just the same. You’ve made an investment often at great expense and time, and you need to make sure it’s always working smoothly. Your support is usually covered for the first year, but after that you have to make the decision whether or not to buy ongoing support.

Part of my job here at AIT is to contact our customers and explain the benefits of them renewing their support contracts.

So why is renewing important?
